‘America’s Got Talent’ host smackdown: Tyra Banks vs. Nick Cannon — Who’s your favorite? [POLL]

“America’s Got Talent” fans, who do you think is the better host: newcomer Tyra Banks or former star Nick Cannon? Banks joined the show this summer for Season 12 when Cannon decided to part ways with NBC’s reality TV show after a whopping eight years. Vote for your favorite down in our poll below and then be sure to sound off in the comments section with your thoughts.

As longtime fans may recall, Regis Philbin hosted the inaugural “AGT” season back in 2006, while Jerry Springer emceed the second and third seasons from 2007 to 2008. Cannon joined up with the show in 2009, with his final season being the 11th in 2016. Prior to “America’s Got Talent,” Cannon was known as a celebrity dancer and actor in programs like “All That,” “The Nick Cannon Show” and “Wild ‘N Out.”

Cannon brought a sense of silliness to “Americas Got Talent,” engaging more with the acts than the prior hosts ever did. Many of Cannon’s moments went viral, including when he dressed up as Larry the Mime and fooled the judges into thinking he was a contestant. He also frequently came out and danced with losing acts that had earned four red X’s, leaving them in fun spirits as they exited the stage. Judge Howard Stern often praised Cannon’s abilities, saying it was a crime he never earned an Emmy nomination as Best Reality Host.

Banks began her career as a model when she was just a teenager, then soon moved over to the acting world. In addition to all her earlier successes, Banks really hit the cultural zeitgeist in 2003 when she created, hosted and judged the competition program “America’s Next Top Model” for more than a decade. She now brings her reality pedigree to “AGT,” where she’s a more emotional host than her predecessors, particularly when it comes to interviewing the younger acts. Banks received fan acclaim last week when she hit her Golden Buzzer for Light Balance, a neon dance routine.
