Chase Goehring is predicted to win the “America’s Got Talent” quarterfinal on Tuesday (Aug. 29), according to our exclusive “AGT” odds. This singer/songwriter is likely to perform another original song on the third live show of season 12. After all, that was what got guest judge DJ Khaled to hit his Golden Buzzer on the July 25 episode. Back then, Goehring had crooned an original tune, “A Capella.” As this tunesmith explained, “I really just want to be my own artist and make music that people can relate to.”
Khaled was so wowed by this talent that he leapt to his feet when the performance was over. “I do this music thing for real,” he told Goehring. “Your lyrics are so real and authentic. The way you were breaking it down and the way you got the crowd involved, you’re on your way to be a star.”
To win the third quarterfinal, Goehring will have to get by another Golden Buzzer act: Angelina Green. This 13-year-old singer impressed judge Heidi Klum on the July 11 episode of “AGT” with her rendition of The Pretenders‘ classic “I’ll Stand By You.” The other three judges — Mel B, Simon Cowell and Howie Mandel — were just as taken with this little girl with the big voice.
Five of the other 10 acts on the third quarterfinals episode will also make it through to the semifinals as well: mentalist Colin Cloud, acrobatic dance group Diavolo, gospel choir Greater Works, singer Kechi Okwuchi , and Sara Carson and her dog Hero. And five will be eliminated: vocal group Final Draft, dance duo Junior and Emily, dancer Oscar Hernandez, videomapping act Oskar and Gaspar and singer Mike Yung.
