“America’s Got Talent” judge Simon Cowell recently declared that 11-year-old dancer Merrick Hanna has “been overlooked so far” this season. I agree wholeheartedly, Simon! While “AGT” Season 12 continues to be dominated by young female singers like Darci Lynne Farmer, Angelica Hale and Celine Tam, Hanna has flown under the radar despite his impressive robot-popping dance moves. Here are my Top 3 reasons why I think Merrick Hanna deserves to win “Americas Got Talent” 2017. Do you agree? Vote in our poll below.
1. He’s uniquely talented
“America’s Got Talent” is a show that seeks to find the most unique talent in the country, and Hanna is a true contender for that honor. At only 11 years old, Hanna’s dance skills are going to keep getting better and better as he ages. If “AGT” voters end up crowning just another singer this year, they’ll end up looking foolish for failing to recognize Hanna’s truly one-of-a-kind talent.
2. He’s a storyteller
Unlike other dance acts on “AGT,” Hanna tells a story every time he appears on stage. Whether he’s performing as a broken robot or a boy who has no family, Hanna captivates the audience each week not just with his dancing, but also with his storytelling abilities. Where might Hanna’s imagination take us if he had a Las Vegas show all to himself?
3. It’s time for another dance winner
Four years ago Japanese entertainer Kenichi Ebina became the first and so far only dance act to win the competition. To compare, there have been a whopping six singers to take home the title out of 11 seasons. “America’s Got Talent” is due for another dance champ, and Hanna fits the mold of other talented children to win, like Season 1’s Bianca Ryan and Season 11’s Grace VanderWaal.
