Evie Clair: Showing her versatility by adding piano playing to her act, this soulful singer won over all four judge, who praised for being so open about her life.
Merrick Hanna: By telling moving stories via dance, Hanna inspired the four judges, with Simon Cowell singling him out as a special talent.
Mandy Harvey: On the June 6 audition episode, this deaf singer/songwriter inspired the hard-hearted Cowell to soften with her own tune “Try.” He pressed his Golden Buzzer and sent her straight through to the live show, where she dazzled once again with an original composition, “Mara’s Song.”
Eric Jones: Cowell reverted to his usual crusty self when he criticized this close-up magician for failing to impress with his feats of prestidigitation. After the judges couldn’t agree on a final act to put through, Jones won the public vote over The Masqueraders.
Light Balance: Back on June 20, new “AGT” host Tyra Banks was so dazzled by this dance troupe and their neon lights that she used her Golden Buzzer. However, on the live show, technical troubles meant that viewers had to watch the dress rehearsal footage of their routine.
Johnny Manuel: On Aug. 8, guest judge Seal was impressed by Manuel’s grit and determination when he performed Stevie Wonder’s “Lately,” both with and without music, and hit his Golden Buzzer. On the live show, Manuel went all diva, delivering over-the-top version of the classic show tune “And I’m Telling You I’m Not Going.”
Celine Tam: This little girl with the big voice had inspired guest judge Laverne Cox to press her Golden Buzzer on Aug. 1 when she sang “How Am I Supposed To Live Without You,” a song made famous by her namesake Celine Dion.. On the live quarterfinal, she sang a soaring solo of the Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston duet “When You Believe.”
