When “Big Brother” awarded this season’s $25,000 prize for America’s Favorite Houseguest during Thursday night’s live finale to Cody Nickson, Cody’s jaw dropped. He clearly didn’t expect to receive such an honor, telling host Julie Chen simply, “It doesn’t make sense.” Are YOU happy that Cody was named America’s Favorite Houseguest for Season 19? At the end of the episode, Cody’s live-in girlfriend Jessica Graf gave him a huge hug and kiss to congratulate him on the victory, as Cody seemed to still be processing the announcement. The other two contenders in the running for the $25,000 prize for Kevin Schlehuber and Jason Dent.
Cody’s time in the house was riddled with controversy. He won the season’s first Head of Household competition and used it to try to backdoor veteran player Paul Abrahamian. Unfortunately for Cody, Paul had been rewarded with America’s temptation that gave him protection for three weeks, so Cody’s plan was foiled.
After that moment Paul and Cody were arch enemies, with the ex-marine being evicted early on. He ended up winning the Battle Back Showdown midway through the season, but was eliminated again shortly after when the entire “Big Brother” house, sans Jessica, banded together to get him out.
Cody now joins a list of America’s Favorite Houseguests that includes Victor Arroyo (Season 18), James Huling (Season 17), Donny Thompson (Season 16), Elissa Slater (Season 15), Frank Eudy (Season 14), Jeff Schroeder (Seasons 13 and 11), Britney Haynes (Season 12), Keesha Smith (Season 10), James Zinkand (Season 9) and Janelle Pierzina (Season 7).
