America’s latest reality TV showmance, ex-marine Cody Nickson and VIP waitress Jessica Graf, will continue entertaining audiences in the new year. Hollywood Reporter has revealed that “Jody” will join the upcoming 30th season of “The Amazing Race” after first falling in love in the recently concluded 19th cycle of “Big Brother.” Both programs air on CBS.
“The Amazing Race” will begin filming its landmark 30th season on Sunday, October 1 at Washington Square Park in New York City. The other teams have yet to be announced, but we’re hoping to see similar big names among the show’s roster to make Season 30 something special. An airdate will be revealed later, but we’re assuming it will begin in June, as that was when Season 29 and Season 27 both debuted.
Cody and Jessica are hardly the first “Amazing Race” team to get their start on “Big Brother.” Former showmances Jordan Lloyd & Jeff Schroeder and Rachel Reilly & Brendon Villegas also went on to take part in the race. Conversely, “Amazing Race” blind daters Jackie Ibarra & Jeff Weldon later became “Big Brother” houseguests in Season 17, though neither lasted very long.
It’s no surprise CBS wants to continue cashing in on the success of Cody and Jessica. While America rewarded Jessica with the Halting Hex early in the game, Cody was named America’s Favorite Houseguest during last week’s Season 19 finale which came with a prize of $25,000. “It doesn’t make sense,” a shocked Cody told “Big Brother” host Julie Chen after she named him the winner.
