Billboard Hot 100: Beyonce is the ‘Perfect’ partner for Ed Sheeran at number-one

After eight weeks of “Rockstar” by Post Malone and 21 Savage at number-one on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, there’s a new leader. On the chart dated December 23, “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran has risen to the top. But he didn’t do it alone. A special duet version of the love ballad was released with Beyonce, and both versions of the song counted towards its number-one berth, so Beyonce’s name was added to its Billboard chart listing. Find out what else made the top 10 in Billboard’s video above.

“Perfect” is the second number-one hit of Sheeran’s career, following “Shape of You” which spent 12 weeks at number one earlier this year. But it’s the 10th chart-topping song for Beyonce, counting her work as a solo artist as well as with Destiny’s Child. It’s been a while since Beyonce has led the Hot 100, though; she hasn’t had a number-one single since “Single Ladies (Pit a Ring on It)” was on top for four weeks from 2008 to 2009. It also makes Beyonce only the third woman to reach number-one on the Hot 100 this year, following Taylor Swift (“Look What You Made Me Do”) and Cardi B (“Bodak Yellow”).

The rise of “Perfect” pushed “Rockstar” down one spot to number-two. “Havana” by Camila Cabello and Young Thug is also down one to number-three. “Gucci Gang” by Lil Pump holds steady at number-four, as does “Thunder” by Imagine Dragons in fifth place.

There’s one new entry in the top 10 this week: “Bad at Love” by Halsey, which is up three spots to number-eight. This is hardly her first time in the top-10 — she spent 12 weeks at number-one as a featured artist on The Chainsmokers‘ “Closer” in 2016. But this is her first time cracking the top-10 by herself.
