It doesn’t look like “Despacito” fans will be able to push the song back to number-one on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for what would be a record-breaking 17th week. Instead, Taylor Swift continues to dominate with not just one, but two entries in the top five. Billboard reports that “Look What You Made Me Do” holds on to the top spot for the second week, while she debuts another song, “…Ready for It?,” at number-four. She’s off to a strong start, and she’s still got two months before her album, “Reputation,” drops on November 10.
It was a good week for women in general. After a long drought for female artists at the top of the chart, female artists make up most of the top-five. Cardi B‘s “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)” is up one spot to number-two. That marks the first time since December 2014 that solo female artists have commanded the top two spots on the chart; Swift had the number-one single that week as well, “Blank Space,” followed by Meghan Trainor at number-two with “All About That Bass.”
Then after Swift’s “Ready” at number-four is another song on the rise: Logic‘s “1-800-273-8255,” which features Alessia Cara and Khalid and delivers a message about suicide prevention — the song title is the number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. That is Cara’s all-time highest chart position, matching the peak position for her song “Here” in 2015.
