A slew of gold- and platinum-selling artists are in contention for the silver anniversary of the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday, May 21. Reigning Artist of the Year Adele defends her title against Beyonce, Justin Bieber, The Chainsmokers, Drake, Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes, Rihanna, Twenty One Pilots and The Weeknd.
Winners in the 48 races will be announced prior to and during the ceremony from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 21 that will air on ABC at 8 p.m. ET/PT. The Billboard Music Awards will be available to cable and satellite TV subscribers on the ABC website and app. Behind-the-scenes interviews will be available on the official Twitter account.
Vanessa Hudgens and Ludacris will host this ceremony, which focuses more on performances than prizes. Nicki Minaj is to open the show with Jason Derulo, David Guetta and Lil Wayne. Among others expected to raise their voice in song are: Miley Cyrus (who will be pushing her new single “Malibu”), Celine Dion (with a new version of”My Heart Will Go On” two decades after its debut), Drake, Florida Georgia Line, Halsey, Sam Hunt, Imagine Dragons, John Legend, Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran. And Cher, who is to feted with the ICON Award, is also expected to perform.
