Cat romp ‘Kedi’ leads Critics’ Choice Documentary Awards nominations

“Kedi,” a popular documentary offering a feline’s-eye view of the hundreds of thousands of stray cats plaguing the streets of Istanbul, leads with the most nominations for the Critics’ Choice Documentary Awards, which will be bestowed on Nov. 2.

“Kedi” scored four bids, including Most Innovative Documentary, Best First Documentary and Best Director (Ceydra Torun). Its fourth nomination hailed its furry stars: Most Compelling Living Subject of a Documentary.

Docs recognized with three nominations are “California Typewriter,” “Chasing Coral,” “City of Ghosts” and “Cries From Syria and Dawson City: Frozen Time.”
