Singer-songwriter/guitarist Chase Goehring performed Tuesday night during the Finals episode of “America’s Got Talent” 2017. As one of the Top 10 “AGT” acts of Season 12, Goehring is known for the effortless way in which he blends rap into his original songs. Did the 21-year-old artist continue wowing the judges and America with his final performance of “Mirror”? Watch Goehring’s “America’s Got Talent” recap video above from NBC’s reality TV show.
All four “AGT” judges — Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel — were impressed with his performance, but only Mel B and Cowell gave him a standing ovation. We’re also assuming that former guest judge DJ Khaled was standing up at home, as he is Goehring’s Golden Buzzer mentor. Here is what they had to say:
Tyra Banks: “Heidi, he did the thing that you love! He did the thing!”
Klum: “You did it. You did it. You really did it. I love when you go that fast. And I do think that a lot of people really connect with your music, and no matter what happens tomorrow, I know that I’m gonna be turning on that radio someday very soon, I’m sure, and you’re gonna be on it. I really do believe that.”
Cowell: “I bloody loved it. But I really loved it, and I loved it because like I said, or I heard myself saying it, you haven’t compromised. This song, I think, was brilliant. I love the lyric, I love the message, I love what you stand for. You are the next generation for these kind of shows. Without people like you we don’t have a future, because you’re not a karaoke singer. You’re singing something you wrote yourself which is personal, which makes you relevant. You’ve done an amazing job throughout.”
Mandel: “That’s the key. The key is it has to be authentic and you are probably one of the most authentic people I’ve ever seen on this stage, ‘cause you’re not doing what you think we will like, you’re doing what works for you. And what works for you is something that we like, and I still believe you’re Ed Sheeran and Logic put together. Your ship name is ‘Sheergic.'”
Mel B: “Well I just think you’re incredible. I mean, I did have a bit of a love-hate relationship at the very, very beginning ‘cause I didn’t quite get it, but when I really listen to your lyrics, you’re a very, very intelligent songwriter, and you write about everyday things but you write it with a twist that it’s dark and then it’s uplifting, so you identify with so many people, and I just wanna say well done. Well done. I thoroughly enjoyed that. I really, really did.”
