Seventeen-year-old singer Christian Guardino performed Tuesday night during the Semifinals 2 episode of “America’s Got Talent” 2017. Back in the Quarterfinals round Guardino disappointed the audience and ended up having to be saved with the Dunkin’ Save after his performance of Ed Sheeran‘s “Make it Rain.” Was he able to impress the judges this time around with his rendition of “What’s Going On” by Marvin Gaye? Watch Christian Guardino’s “Americas Got Talent” recap video above from NBC’s reality TV show.
Even though Guardino was visibly nervous, all four “AGT” judges — Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel — jumped to their feet at the conclusion of his song. Mel B exclaimed, “Now that is how you kill it on ‘AGT,’ brother!” Klum really wanted to see him in the Finals next week, while Cowell said when you play it back and just listen to the vocals, it’s perfect. Christian sweetly added that he hoped to bring everyone together through this song.
But the best critique of all came from Guardino’s Golden Buzzer mentor Mandel. “I want to tell you, Christian, you’re going on,” Mandel declared. “And the thing about you — you said in the package before, you hope it wasn’t a mistake — this is the exact opposite of a mistake. You need to be here. You should be here. America needs you. We need to hear you. You are beautiful inside and out, and you are so inspirational. I love you, young man.”
