Christian Guardino eliminated on ‘America’s Got Talent’ 2017: See the formerly blind singer’s uplifting message to fans

The Top 10 “America’s Got Talent” finalists were announced on Wednesday, and notably absent from the list was Christian Guardino. The 17-year-old formerly blind singer earned Howie Mandel‘s Golden Buzzer back in the audition rounds, and he made it all the way to the Semifinals before being eliminated by America’s vote. Despite being cut, Guardino was ever the gentleman on Twitter as he posted this uplifting message to his fans: “So grateful for this incredible experience as a semifinalist on @AGT & for the love from these forever friends! Can’t wait for what’s next!”

Even though Guardino was visibly nervous during his final performance of “What’s Going On” by Marvin Gaye, all four “AGT” judges — Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Mandel — jumped to their feet at the conclusion of his song. Mel B exclaimed, “Now that is how you kill it on ‘AGT,’ brother!” Klum really wanted to see him in the Finals. And Cowell said that his vocals were perfect.

But the highest praise of all on Tuesday’s performance show came from his Golden Buzzer mentor, Mandel. “You need to be here,” he gushed. “You should be here. America needs you. We need to hear you. You are beautiful inside and out, and you are so inspirational. I love you, young man.” As of this writing, Mandel has yet to tweet about Guardino’s ouster.

After Christian Guardino was sent home on Wednesday’s results show, the 10 finalists for Season 12 were later revealed: singing ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer, singer Angelica Hale, singer-songwriter/ukeleleist Mandy Harvey, singer-songwriter/guitarist Chase Goehring, stand-up comedian Preacher Lawson, light-up dance group Light Balance, dog act Sara and Hero, acrobatic dance group Diavolo, singer Evie Clair and singer Kechi.
