‘Dancing with the Stars’ predictions: Will Barbara Corcoran or Frankie Muniz be the first eliminated?

Dancing with the Stars” premieres its 25th season tonight, so will any of tonight’s contestants suffer an immediate elimination? Probably not, according to our predictions. Unless there’s a separate results show “DWTS” rarely eliminates a contestant on the first night — after all, viewers need an opportunity to see who they’re voting for. But even if the cast of 13 stays intact tonight, we can still look to our season premiere odds to see who might be vulnerable when the first elimination does come.

As of this writing the odds are 21/20 that there will be a non-elimination first round. That translates to a 49% chance that all of tonight’s dancers will be safe. But ranked second in our predictions with 9/2 odds (18% chance of elimination) is Barbara Corcoran. The “Shark Tank” entrepreneur is this season’s oldest competitor at age 68, and older contestants generally struggle to keep up with the show’s rigorous pace, especially when up against younger celebrities and athletes. In fact, the oldest woman to win was 50 (Jennifer Grey), and the oldest man was 52 (Donny Osmond). But Corcoran may bring fans from her own reality show who could help her avoid early elimination, just like past “Shark Tank” contestants Mark Cuban (eighth place, season five) and Robert Herjavek (sixth place, season 20).

If not Corcoran, Emmy nominated actor Frankie Muniz might be at risk. He ranks third in our predictions with 10/1 odds (8.8% chance of elimination). The “Malcolm in the Middle” child star has been out of the public eye for a while, and he’s not known to have prior dance experience, so it remains to be seen whether he’ll be able to hold his own on the dance floor and deliver the fan votes he needs to advance. But we could be underestimating him on both counts.
