Last week on “Dancing with the Stars” the vast majority of users who made their predictions at Gold Derby correctly foretold the elimination of “Real Housewives” star Erika Jayne, but we’re finding it much harder to come to a consensus for tonight’s episode, which will feature the music of boy bands and girl groups and pit the celebrities against each other for a battle-of-the-sexes team dance round. Will bull rider Bonner Bolton be sent home? Or will it be “Bachelor” star Nick Viall? Even baseball player David Ross shouldn’t get too comfortable. Check out our odds for tonight’s show here.
As of this writing Bolton gets leading odds of 5/4, which translates to a 45% chance of being eliminated. He didn’t have a great night last week, finishing second from the bottom on the judges’ leaderboard with a score of 30 out of 40 for his “Wreck-It Ralph”-themed tango. In fact, he’s been up and down all season, but so far his scores have given him enough of a cushion to avoid the chopping block. Also, his good looks, his chemistry with pro partner Sharna Burgess, and his inspirational comeback story (he broke his neck and nearly died in a rodeo accident) have probably won him some fans. But maybe that’s not enough for him to survive now that the competition is down to the top eight.
Viall is next with 27/10 odds, or a 27% chance of exiting the show. That’s actually somewhat surprising since Viall got one of the better scores last week. His “Pinocchio” jazz number scored 34 out of 40, which tied him with actress Heather Morris for fourth place. So our users must think he’ll have a significant shortfall in viewer votes.
Ross ranks third in our predictions with 4/1 odds, or a 21% chance of going home. He got the lowest score in last week’s show (29 out of 40), so why are most of us predicting him to stick around? It probably has much to do with his fun-loving personality, which might have made him quite popular with the voting public. And he already has a sizable built-in fan base thanks to his baseball career — though it’s anyone’s guess if baseball fans follow “Dancing with the Stars” enough to come out and vote. He’ll have to keep his fingers crossed.
Figure skater Nancy Kerrigan is next, though she seems relatively safe. She gets 20/1 odds, which means just a 5% chance of elimination. Her “Enchanted” jazz dance earned her the third highest score of the night (36 out of 40), so it would be a major surprise for her to be ousted. Even if she got the fewest viewer votes she’d probably still be mathematically likely to survive.
