The season 24 premiere of “Dancing with the Stars” didn’t go so well for comedian Chris Kattan. The “Saturday Night Live” alum performed an awkward cha cha with his pro partner Witney Carson and was clearly disappointed by the judges’ comments and scores. Len Goodman went as far as to say, “The best thing about that cha cha was I haven’t got to watch it again.” Kattan scored 17 out of 40, landing him at the bottom of the leaderboard, and according to our week-two racetrack odds he’s likely to be eliminated from the competition tonight.
Our users who have placed their bets in our predictions center give Kattan leading odds of 4/11 to be sent home. That translates to a 73% chance of leaving the competition. But it’s possible he’ll get a second chance. Quite often getting the lowest judges’ score is a blessing in disguise, as it can motivate a star’s fans to vote more aggressively to save their favorite from the chopping block.
If Kattan is spared, the next likeliest star to be eliminated is Spanish actress and musician Charo with 6/1 odds (14% chance of going home). She finished 10th on the leaderboard with 21 out of 40 points for her salsa — low enough to be at risk but perhaps not low enough for her fans to feel like they need to save her. That’s a dangerous position to be in.
Actor and former professional wrestler Mr. T is next with odds of 14/1 (6% chance of going home). His score from the judges (20 out of 40) put him in 11th place for the night, so he too will have to hope his fans are motivated to keep him around. Tied in fourth place with 50/1 odds (2%) are “Bachelor” star Nick Viall and bull rider Bonner Bolton. They both scored among the bottom half of contestants, though their point totals (24 for Viall and 22 for Bolton) were good enough to give them a slight buffer in case their fans didn’t vote in huge numbers. Even better news for Bolton is that he didn’t have a celebrity actively campaigning for his elimination like Viall did.
