Last week’s elimination on “Dancing with the Stars” was the biggest shocker of the season — perhaps one of the biggest shockers of all time. Actress Heather Morris was sent home despite her extensive dance experience and consistently strong judges’ scores. But if that doesn’t make the stars anxious enough going into tonight’s movie-themed show, there is also going to be a double elimination at the end of the episode — no pressure. So who will it be?
“Bachelor” star Nick Viall is the most likely to be eliminated according to the predictions of our users. He gets leading odds of 3/2, which translates to a 41% chance of going home. Last week he was heavily criticized for his Beach Boys-inspired jive routine and scored straight 7s for a total of 28 out of 40. Even when that score was added to his team dance with Bonner Bolton, David Ross and Rashad Jennings at the end of the night it wasn’t enough to keep him from landing at the bottom of the leaderboard.
Baseball player Ross is next in our predictions with odds of 12/5 (30% chance of elimination). Since there will be a double elimination, that means both Viall and Ross will be ousted if our predictions prove true. Ross finished second from the bottom of the leaderboard thanks to his flawed Argentine tango, so our users think the eliminations will line up exactly with the judges’ scores.
In third place is bull rider Bolton with odds of 9/2 (18% chance of elimination). He had slightly better luck than Viall and Ross with his scores — but just barely. His rumba received two 7s and two 8s for a total of 30 out of 40, just one point ahead of Ross and two points ahead of Viall.
So according to our collective predictions, there’s about an 89% chance that the dreaded double elimination will take down two of these three men. But let’s not forget what we’ve learned from last week’s shocking events: fans like these three celebs — a lot. Ross and Bolton were at the bottom of the leaderboard going into last week’s show and still managed to survive elimination against Morris, who was way up in fourth place, tied with Viall. Their fans must have voted aggressively to overturn the judges’ scores like that. So it’s entirely possible that their fans will save them again.
Viall had a strong score going into last week’s elimination, so it’s less surprising that he survived, but he was tied with Morris on the leaderboard, so we know for sure that he had more fan support than she did.
That brings us to figure skater Nancy Kerrigan. The judges have consistently admired her dancing, but she performed an imperfect paso doble, and her clip package that showed her week of training emphasized her frustration. That might have alienated her from some fans. If Morris could be eliminated, then so can Kerrigan. But our users think she’s relatively safe: she gets 16/1 odds (6% chance of elimination).
