‘Dancing with the Stars’: Heather Morris performed a ‘knockout’ rumba before getting knocked off the show [WATCH]

It was the best of times and the worst of times for Heather Morris on “Dancing with the Stars.” On “Boy Bands vs. Girl Groups” night, she and her pro partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who was finally recovered from his injury, performed a flawless rumba that received the season’s first perfect score from the judges: straight 10s for a total of 40 out of 40 … Then they were eliminated.

‘Dancing with the Stars’ controversy: Biggest ‘DWTS’ scandals

Morris must have had a tremendous shortfall in viewer votes because the previous week she tied for fourth place on the judges’ leaderboard. That means the contestant she tied with, Nick Viall, must have gotten more fan support than she did, and so did Rashad Jennings, Bonner Bolton and David Ross, who got lower scores from the judges. But the fans in the live audience were certainly on Morris’s side: they booed loudly when her elimination was announced.

Looking on the bright side, though, at least she got to go out with a bang. Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter was a guest judge, filling in for Julianne Hough, and he told Morris, “That was my favorite dance of the night.” Len Goodman praised her “lovely leg action, beautiful stretches … It was a knockout dance, I really loved it.” Bruno Tonioli added, “It was like watching Kim Basinger in ‘Dancing with the Stars Confidential’ … You danced like a champion.” Carrie Ann Inaba concluded that it was “absolutely, by far, hands-down your best dance.”
