“You brought the ballroom to Britney!” said “Dancing with the Stars” judge Carrie Ann Inaba after watching Heather Morris perform a dynamite tango to the song “Toxic” by Britney Spears. For the second week in a row Morris was on the dance floor with substitute pro Alan Bersten since her regular partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy was still recovering from injury, but that doesn’t seem to have slowed her down. She tied for the second-highest score of the night (33 out of 40), just one point off of Normani Kordei‘s top-scoring routine.
“You’re a terrific dancer,” added Len Goodman, “loads of content of the tango, plenty of dancing in hold. If you were playing poker, you went all in.” Julianne Hough added, “Tonight you guys felt so connected. When you’re dancing it’s not just about getting the steps right and moving and nailing it. You guys had subtleties … the chemistry was off the charts.” And Bruno Tonioli summed it up by saying, “Hit me Heather one more time!”
There has been a lot of pressure on Morris this season considering that she used to be a professional dancer performing on stage with Beyonce. And Chmerkovskiy’s injury only intensified the pressure on the actress to deliver. While she hasn’t reached the top of the leaderboard just yet, she’s definitely closing in on that top spot.
