When Heather Morris was announced for the season 24 cast of “Dancing with the Stars” she came with higher expectations than any other celeb. Not only did she star in the musical comedy series “Glee,” she also previously competed in the dance competition “So You Think You Can Dance” and performed professionally as a backup dancer for Beyonce. She has such a strong dance background that she could almost be considered one of the pros. Did she live up to those expectations on Monday night, March 20, when she performed for the first time? Watch her routine above and decide for yourself.
Morris performed a Viennese waltz with her pro partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy, and the judges were smitten. Bruno Tonioli said, “The routine was beautiful, simple, and effective — I loved it.” Julianne Hough agreed, adding, “I thought it was beautiful, there was a youthful exuberance about it.” Len Goodman went a step farther, declaring Morris and Chmerkovskiy “a match made in heaven.” Despite the high praise, the judges scored her somewhat conservatively, giving her straight 7s for a total of 28 out of 40, which put her in a tie for third place with figure skater Nancy Kerrigan and baseball player David Ross. Finishing ahead of her were gymnast Simone Biles (32) and football player Rashad Jennings (31).
