“I picked this song for you: ‘Head High.’ All the lyrics are about being resilient, pushing forward, and you are the epitome of that,” said “Dancing with the Stars” pro Mark Ballas about his music selection for his semifinals contemporary dance with his celebrity partner Lindsey Stirling. “Heads “High” is by Ballas and his wife BC Jean, and it reminded him of Lindsey because of her perseverance. “The amazing thing about Lindsey is that she’s faced some serious challenges from losing a family member like your dad, or the violin, people telling you you can’t do it, or even just this competition with how many obstacles you’ve had to override.” Did Stirling rise to this occasion as well? Watch the routine above and let us know what you think in the comments below.
Judge Len Goodman said, “You blew me away, it was a really fabulous performance.” Bruno Tonioli added, “Dynamic, athletic, surprising. You danced to Mark’s tune very well I think. It really captured the feeling of what it is to be free to be one’s self. You let it all hang out, I love that.” And Carrie Ann Inaba concluded, “I was thinking about the quality of movement that you’ve expressed from the beginning to now, it has changed so drastically. It used to be all sky and light and pastel, and now you are deep, blood, earth mama. There was so much primal, beautiful, powerful energy in that dance. It was stunning.”
The routine earned Stirling a nearly perfect score: a 9 and two 10s for a total of 29 out of 30. Did you agree with the judges? Vote in our poll below to let us know if Stirling deserves to win the Mirror Ball Trophy.
