‘Dancing with the Stars’: How did Lindsey Stirling’s tango compare to Meryl Davis? [WATCH]

“This week we’ve been given Maks and Meryl’s tango from season 18,” said “Dancing with the Stars” contestant Lindsey Stirling about the challenge of living up to a “DWTS” legend. For semifinals the contestants had to recreate “Iconic Dances” that had earned perfect scores in previous seasons, and Stirling had the unenviable task of replicating a classic performance by Mirror Ball champion Meryl Davis and Maksim Chmerkovskiy. “Maks and Meryl looks so amazing in that routine,” Stirling added. “They were sharp, they were smooth, they were soft, they were edgy.” Did Stirling live up to such high standards? Watch her performance above and let us know what you think in the comments below.

Judge Len Goodman said, “There was plenty of snap, crackle, and pop … A bit loose in the hold on occasion, but the overall feel of the dance was correct. It was a proper tango — well done.” Bruno Tonioli added, “I think you’ve raised your game tonight just at the right time. That was a wonderful tango — the extended line, the placement. What I loved is the detail … Every change of direction was absolutely on-the-money.” And Carrie Ann Inaba concluded, “About the recreation, I thought you did a fantastic job. You guys don’t have that kind of sexual chemistry that Maks and Meryl had, but you had this friend-balance chemistry that is so powerful. You guys are like watching two of the same dance together.” But Inaba admitted she was “torn” about the dance because of a couple of imperfect details.

Nevertheless, Stirling received one of the highest scores of the night for this recreation: two 9s and a 10 for a total of 28 out of 30. Did you agree with the judges? Vote in our poll below to let us know who you think deserves to win the Mirror Ball Trophy.
