‘Dancing with the Stars’: Injured Maksim Chmerkovskiy has no ‘concrete return date,’ reveals Heather Morris next dance

There is still no “concrete return date” for pro dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy on “Dancing with the Stars.” That’s what he revealed on Instagram on Tuesday while sharing a playful photo of himself wearing a hospital gown (see it below). “Thank you all for so much love and support!” he said to his fans. “And for having [Heather Morris‘s] back with all your votes … Please rest assured that I’m taking this thing very seriously.”

Chmerkovskiy is paired with “Glee” actress and former Beyonce backup dancer Morris this season and is trying to win his second Mirror Ball Trophy after prevailing with figure skater Meryl Davis in season 18. The veteran pro has been competing on “DWTS” off and on since season two. He and Morris tied for third place on the judges’ leaderboard in the season premiere, but while training for their week-two jive he injured his calf and was forced to sit out while Morris danced with troupe member Alan Bersten, who had also stepped in when pro Mark Ballas was injured in season 22.

Morris and Bersten’s jive ended up sparking an argument between the judges — Len Goodman didn’t like the hip-hop elements they added to the routine — but Morris’s scores nevertheless improved from week to week (30 out of 40, up from 28 on premiere night). What do you think of Morris’s chances for the Mirror Ball Trophy now that she’ll have to go another week without Chmerkovskiy?
