‘Dancing with the Stars’ predictions update: Simone Biles remains frontrunner as women dominate top 3

Simone Biles lost some ground in week two of “Dancing with the Stars,” falling from the top of the judges’ leaderboard to fourth place, where she tied with bull rider Bonner Bolton, but that hasn’t hurt her odds much. According to our latest predictions she’s still the frontrunner to win the Mirror Ball Trophy.

As of this writing Biles gets 4/7 odds of winning season 24. That translates to a 65% chance of victory. That’s down from last week, but the margin of difference is so small it scarcely matters. In week two she had 1/2 odds, which was less than 1% stronger. So she’s holding very steady as the odds-on favorite.

Meanwhile, “Glee” actress Heather Morris moves back up. She ranked second in our predictions going into week one (10/3 odds, 23% chance of winning), but she dropped down to third place in week two (12/1 odds, 8% chance of winning). Now she has rebounded to second place again with 7/1 odds (12% chance). Her week-two jive was controversial, causing an argument between the judges over the dance’s added hip-hop elements: Carrie Ann Inaba, Julianne Hough and Bruno Tonioli loved it, but Len Goodman didn’t. It looks like our users agree with the majority.

Singer Normani Kordei also rebounds this week. She finished on top of the judges’ leaderboard with a score of 32 out of 40 thanks to her showstopping cha cha, and now she’s gaining ground. She’s back up to third place with odds of 10/1 (9% chance of winning), which is an improvement from last week’s 18/1 odds (6% chance of winning).

That gives women all of this week’s top three spots in our predictions. Could we end up with an all-female finals this year? The last time that happened was season 18 with winner Meryl Davis, runner-up Amy Purdy and third place Candace Cameron Bure.

The improvements for Morris and Kordei mean a surprising drop for football player Rashad Jennings. He actually tied Kordei for the top judges’ score in week-two thanks to his sensitive Viennese waltz, and when you combine that with his week-one performance he’s currently the highest scored contestant of the season. Nevertheless, he’s down in fourth place with 11/1 odds (8% chance of winning), compared to last week when he had 9/1 odds (10% chance of winning).
