‘Dancing with the Stars’: Nikki Bella’s ‘Coco’ jazz dance was her best, so ‘bring on the tequila shots’ [WATCH]

“I’m a Mexican, not a Mexican’t,” joked Nikki Bella on “Dancing with the Stars” before her jazz routine inspired by the upcoming Pixar film “Coco” on “Disney Night” (watch it above). “I am so excited to reconnect with my Mexican roots. It makes me feel like a kid again, and that’s what Disney’s all about. I am very nervous about doing a cultural dance. I want to be authentic — I mean, my dad managed a mariachi band.” Her pro partner Artem Chigvintsev explained, “I want to make sure we have enough Mexican traditional movement,” so he invited Mexican folk dancers to help them train. So how did it turn out? Well, Bella earned her best scores of the season so far: straight 9s for a total of 27 out of 30.

“That dance summed up the whole night,” said judge Len Goodman. “It was so joyous, it was full of fun, had all the flavors of Mexico, and you know what? It was your best dance.” Bruno Tonioli added, “It’s fiesta time, bring on the tequila shots! It was such a wonderful, vibrant celebration of life … You were just blossoming tonight.” And Carrie Ann Inaba concluded, “You guys faced a unique challenge because we haven’t seen this movie yet, so we’re unfamiliar with the characters and the storyline … Tonight you introduced us to something so fantastic. I loved that you brought the traditional folk dance in. The way you executed it was just so pure.”
