‘Dancing with the Stars’: Was Normani Kordei’s ‘breathtaking’ freestyle enough to win Mirror Ball Trophy? [WATCH]

“That was absolutely breathtaking,” said “Dancing with the Stars” judge Julianne Hough about singer Normani Kordei‘s freestyle dance during the finals on Monday night (watch it above). “This journey for so many people is so special, and your journey and your light have transcended through these cameras, through television screens to people all over the country and all over the world.”

Bruno Tonioli agreed with Hough, adding that Kordei’s elegant performance to “What the World Needs Now is Love” was “so inspirational, so achingly beautiful. What it had above all was honesty and purity of style and form. It just came out of you as if from your soul.” Carrie Ann Inaba told Kordei, “You’re in a class of your own as far as I’m concerned in the way you articulate yourself through the movement of the dance.” And Len Goodman concluded, “So emotional, so much beauty. It was just breathtaking.”

But is it enough to win the Mirror Ball Trophy? Kordei has been the frontrunner according to our predictions for the last three weeks of the competition, but even though she got straight 10s from the judges for her freestyle for a perfect score of 40 out of 40, her first dance of the night was just shy of perfection and put her behind football player Rashad Jennings on the leaderboard. Can she make up that deficit with votes from viewers at home?
