Did gymnast Simone Biles deserve better scores for her cha cha in week two of “Dancing with the Stars”? She topped the leaderboard in the season premiere, but this week she only scored three 7s and an 8, for a total of 29 out of 40. That put her in a tie for fourth place. Did you agree with the judges, or were they unduly harsh to the Olympic champion? Watch her routine above and decide for yourself.
“I think you set off all the fire alarms in the studio,” said Bruno Tonioli about Biles’s “wonderful” performance — he was the one who gave her an 8. “You are such a spark plug. You have such a great energy to watch,” agreed Carrie Ann Inaba. “But you got out of sync on a step, and you went ahead of [pro partner Sasha Farber].”
Len Goodman also enjoyed it, saying it was “full of vim, vigor and vitality,” but like Inaba he pointed out one moment “when the excitement got hold of you.” Julianne Hough didn’t point out a timing mistake, but she did sense a lack of confidence in Biles. “I want you to discover what makes you feel [sexy and confident]. I don’t know if I necessarily felt it, but what I saw was beautiful.”
Biles has been the frontrunner for the Mirror Ball Trophy according to our racetrack odds for both week one and week two.
