‘Dancing with the Stars’: Simone Biles’s ‘Vegas Night’ quickstep was ‘fantastic,’ but she was penalized [WATCH]

“The footsteps were precise. You were on your game. Your frame was gorgeous. Your head was to the left. It was beautiful and executed so well. I love this partnership so much,” said “Dancing with the Stars” judge Julianne Hough to gymnast Simone Biles after her “Vegas Night” quickstep with pro partner Sasha Farber in week three of the competition. The judges all admired Biles’s performance, but because Hough’s fellow judge Carrie Ann Inaba penalized Biles for an unauthorized lift, she finished in fourth place on the leaderboard with a total score of 32 out of 40. But that was still pretty good since she finished just two points shy of the top-scoring dance by singer Normani Kordei.

“She’s on the fast track to Vegas!” Bruno Tonioli exclaimed. “You were breaking all the speed limits on the strip … Now give more emphasis to interpretation because physically you can do anything you want.” Added Len Goodman, “It had speed, but it had control. It was fast, but you didn’t hurry. You lost a little bit of body contact … [but] it was great, I liked it.” Even Inaba thought it was “fantastic” apart from the perceived lift.
