“Dancing with the Stars” contestant Nick Lachey has finished on the bottom of the judges’ leaderboard for the last two weeks in a row, so as the competition is heating up he’s surely a goner next week, right? “Honestly I don’t think so,” says Gold Derby user Danny Lazo. “I think he had a really good fan base going into this, so if anything I feel like next week we might see [Vanessa Lachey] or [Drew Scott] go home.” Watch our video slugfest above.
Danny Lazo isn’t just any Gold Derby user. He won our predictions contest for “Disney Night.” Out of more than 100 participants he was one of only four to correctly answer five out of seven predictions questions (71.43%), and he had the highest points total by making one savvy gamble. He correctly forecast that Bruno Tonioli would give the fewest points of any “DWTS” this week even though almost all other users were predicting that would be Len Goodman as usual. Tonioli had 100/1 odds at the time Lazo made that call, so he received a massive payout in game points, which made all the difference in our contest.
Lazo also went against the consensus by predicting that “Pretty Little Liars” actress Sasha Pieterse would be eliminated. He explained, “Just comparing her results from last week and the fact that she wasn’t with a really popular pro like [Val Chmerkovskiy] or [Mark Ballas] I think might be the reason she went home.” It’s true that the pros might make a big difference on “DWTS”; in some cases they draw as many if not more fan votes than the actual celebs. Pieterse’s partner Gleb Savchenko could eventually rise to that level, but this was only his fourth season as a pro on the show, so he may not have achieved the same level of fan loyalty yet.
