“I wasn’t too sad about Nick being eliminated, but I did feel bad for Nancy,” says Gold Derby contributor Jeffrey Kare when we discussed the double elimination on Monday night’s “Dancing with the Stars,” which celebrated “Movie Night” (watch our complete video commentary above). “The Bachelor” alum Nick Viall had the lowest score going into Monday night’s episode, so it wasn’t very surprising to see him on the chopping block, but figure skater Nancy Kerrigan looked for a while like a legitimate contender for the Mirror Ball Trophy.
The same was true of Heather Morris, who was eliminated the week earlier after scoring the first perfect score of the season: 10s from every judge for a total of 40 out of 40. On “Movie Night” another competitor delivered a perfect-scoring routine, singer Normani Kordei, but the night ended much better for her. “I thought that was fierce,” said Jeffrey about Kordei’s showstopping Argentine tango, which earned her immunity from elimination, something that would have come in handy for Morris seven days prior.
So who’s going home next now that the competition is down to its final five: Simone Biles, Bonner Bolton, Rashad Jennings, Kordei and David Ross? “I have Bonner in first place, with David in second,” Jeffrey reveals about his predictions for next week’s elimination. Bolton and Ross are the bottom two contestants on the judges’ leaderboard, but they’ve both proven their fans will vote for them enthusiastically. If that should happen again then next week could have another shocking twist ending.
