Sorry all of you Darci Lynne Farmer fans. She won’t be on the Sept. 12 episode of “America’s Got Talent.” That is because this talented 12-year-old singing ventriloquist has already made it through to the “AGT” final that kicks off on Sept. 19. She was one of the five acts on the Sept. 5 semi final to win enough votes to move on and contend for the $1 million grand prize.
Farmer has been the frontrunner to win “America’s Got Talent” since she stole our hearts on the first audition episode at the end of May when she appeared with her rabbit puppet Petunia. Mel B was so impressed with this Oklahoma City native’s routine combining comedy, singing and ventriloquism that she used her Golden Buzzer to send her straight through to the live shows. On the first “AGT” quarter final, Farmer introduced her mouse puppet Oscar, who had a crush on Mel B. And on the first “AGT semi final, she brought on Edna, the little old lady who lusted after Simon Cowell.
Farmer leads our exclusive Gold Derby odds and is predicted to become the third ventriloquist to win “AGT” after Terry Fator in Season 2 and Paul Zerdin in Season 10. However to do so, she will have to get more votes than the other four acts already in the final — singers Evie Clair and Chase Goehring, comedian Preacher Lawson, and dog act Sara & Hero — as well as the five acts to make the grade from the second semi final on Sept. 12.
