“Beauty and the Beast” leading lady Emma Watson let down her English reserve on a recent episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” In the latest installment of a long-running hidden camera bit, Watson wore an earpiece with DeGeneres directing her as to what to say and do.
The premise was that Watson was looking to hire a nanny. The actress proved to have nerves of steel as DeGeneres told her to make this the job interview from hell. While the position seems straightforward enough, the twist was revealed that the nanny was to be in charge of the actress, rather than a child.
As Watson explained, with a straight face, she had been inspired by Corinne Olympios, a contestant on the most recent season of “The Bachelor,” who has a nanny. Indeed, as the actress revealed to the incredulous jobseeker, she was so admiring of Olympios that “I started saying vagine, too.”
Watson then reeled off a list of dos and don’ts: “I don’t like milk, but I do like red bull. I like to go potty alone. I don’t need you to help me potty.” Perhaps feeling sympathy for the actress, who maintained her composure, the talk show host then had her have a fit of laughter, followed by an agonizingly long period of silence that was broken by a crying jag.
If that wasn’t enough to convince the interviewee that Watson was wacko, DeGeneres had her lick on a giant lollipop as she played a scene from “Snow White: “Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the best little girl of them all? You are, Emma, you are,” she repeated.
At last, DeGeneres put both the potential employer and the prospective employee out of their misery when she had Watson reveal, T”here’s one more thing I think you should know. I’m not looking for a nanny. You’re on the ‘Ellen’ show.”
