“We’re approximately six months in,” said Samantha Bee on Wednesday, June 28, when interviewing Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren about the Donald Trump administration on “Full Frontal with Samantha Bee.” “It’s only been six months?” Warren replied. Many liberals hoped Warren would run for president in 2016 and are holding out hope for her to run in 2020. She says she’s not pursuing the presidency, but she assures Bee that she will be running for re-election in 2018 to return to the US Senate. Watch their complete interview above.
Warren rose to success as an advocate for the working class and a critic of the kinds of financial-industry abuses that helped cause the worldwide financial crisis nearly a decade ago. “This is my family, this is how I grew up,” says Warren about where her political perspective came from. “Donald Trump lied to [working class voters], lied to their faces. But the answer is, point it out, hold him accountable, and offer them something better.”
“My cynicism will not back down from your blind optimism,” Bee replied. But Warren countered by saying, “My optimism is not blind. I see exactly what’s going on.” She still thinks America will emerge from the Trump era better than it started, quite simply “because we don’t have any choice.”
