‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 episode 2 preview: ‘A Targaryen cannot be trusted’ in ‘Stormborn’ [WATCH]

Game of Thronesreturned on Sunday night, July 16, for its seventh season. In the episode, titled “Dragonstone,” the Mother of Dragons, Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) didn’t show up until the very end, when her fleet of ships arrived at the title fortress, her old family home. But from the looks of the trailer for next week’s episode — and from its title, “Stormborn” — it looks like it will going to be all about Dany.

“A Targaryen cannot be trusted,” Jon Snow (Kit Harington) is told in the North. And in King’s Landing, Queen Cersei (Lena Headey) echoes that sentiment by saying, “The Mad King’s daughter will destroy the realm.” And I guess they’re right to be wary of a Targaryen. After all, Daenerys’s father, now known as the Mad King, had Ned Stark’s father and brother killed, and then he almost annihilated King’s Landing to prevent Robert Baratheon from seizing power. All signs point to Daenerys being quite a bit less mad than dear old dad, but if you’re a Stark or a Lannister, that may not be a chance you’re willing to take when she has an army at your doorstep.

Part of Daenerys’s coalition includes Yara Greyjoy (Gemma Whelan), who advises Daenerys, “We have an army, a fleet, and three dragons. We should hit King’s Landing now.” Do you think Daenerys will strike so soon? Watch the trailer above and discuss this and more with your fellow “Game of Thrones” fans in our forums.
