After they feature intense competitions week after week, it’s only fair that we pit all of TV’s reality shows against each other in our new contest. We now need your votes for Best Reality-Competition Program of the past year as television fills up with more and more of these types of series. Cast your vote for nominees of the 14th Annual Gold Derby TV Awards, honoring the best TV during the eligibility period of June 1, 2016 to May 31, 2017.
At last year’s ceremony, you chose “RuPaul’s Drag Race” for its first ever trophy at our annual awards. That Logo show defeated “The Amazing Race,” “American Idol,” “Shark Tank,” “Survivor,” and “The Voice.” It joined these past category winners in the history of the Gold Derby TV Awards: “The Voice” (2012, 2013, 2015), “Cosmos” (2014), “Top Chef” (2011), “Survivor” (2010), “The Amazing Race” (2005, 2009), “Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List” (2008), “American Idol” (2006, 2007), “Project Runway” (tie in 2006), and “The Apprentice” (2004) — yes, that means Donald Trump actually has a Gold Derby TV Award to his credit. Note that this category combined all types of reality and non-fiction programs in the past but only contains reality-competition shows for the 2017 ballot.
We have 21 contenders available now in our predictions center, and you can vote for your top three selections. Look over these titles and help us decide the six nominees for this year:
