In Hollywood, the posters in our forums are both revered for the praise they give and dreaded for their scathing critiques. When it came to this year’s TV categories at the Golden Globes, they continued to pull no punches, which you can view here. Reactions spanned from calling one winner the “dullest man ever” to shock at the love bestowed upon “The Night Manager.”
Below is just a sampling of what was dished out over the ceremony’s three-plus hours. Read more and have your say here.
Best TV Drama Series: “The Crown”
pacinofan: Take over Stephen Daldry for the dullest man ever.
Best TV Drama Actor: Billy Bob Thornton, “Goliath”
GusCruz: Thornton — I knew it but stuck to my stupid Schreiber prediction. Good speech! Amazon had to win one. Never bought the “Let’s make it up to Malek” narrative.
bondzzz: Glad I switched to Thornton last minute, I knew they could not resist a movie star, hehe.
Best TV Drama Actress: Claire Foy, “The Crown”
Atypical: Claire Foy! Redemption for [her snubs for] “Wolf Hall” begins now.
Sasha: So f*cking deserving! She slayed.
Best TV Comedy Series: “Atlanta”
claydavis: This isn’t a shock. A no-brainer pick.
mafro987: Best new comedy of the year.
Best TV Comedy/Musical Actor: Donald Glover, “Atlanta”
PJ Edwards: Hey they didn’t screw over Glover!
pacinofan: “Atlanta” was my favorite new show, but as Glover is often the straight man to the eccentric support cast I am a little surprised with this win.
Best TV Comedy/Musical Actress: Tracee Ellis Ross, “Black-ish”
Mihael Crncec: They really don’t like Julia, do they?
Sasha: I like these new unpredictable Golden Globes! Go Tracee!
queenbee: I can’t believe JLD was snubbed again. It’s an actual joke they keep giving this award to anyone but her.
Best TV Movie/Limited Series: “The People v. O.J. Simpson”
BamaEd: Unpopular opinion: I hated “The People v. O.J. Simpson.” I thought it was really bad. I had to turn it off halfway through.
Best TV Movie/Limited Actor: Tom Hiddleston, “The Night Manager”
Lord Freddy Blackfyre: That’s too much for “The Night Manager.”
Stretchy: Welp, I predicted Hiddleston but i thought it wouldn’t happen after Colman and Laurie. They liked it better than anyone thought.
Best TV Movie/Limited Actress: Sarah Paulson, “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story”
Atypical: The one and only Sarah Paulson, ladies and gentlemen!
sofan: So Paulson only has to take SAG now to become one of the few people to have won TCA, Critics’ Choice, Emmy, Globe and SAG. I hope she does by the end of this month, she certainly deserves it.
Best TV Supporting Actor: Hugh Laurie, “The Night Manager”
forwardswill: Delighted about Laurie. Please let the night continue like this!
pacinofan: Weird win but a witty speech from Hugh Laurie.
Best TV Supporting Actress: Olivia Colman, “The Night Manager”
mafro987: A forgettable performance in an average show. Newton will win the Emmy so it matters not.
pacinofan: My fifth choice wins again. I thought she was excellent so it doesn’t bother me remember of much. She is no Thandie Newton though.
forwardswill: OLIVIA COLMAN! Favorite win of the night! Love these surprises!
