Golden Globes predictions by experts: Saoirse Ronan (‘Lady Bird’) widens lead over Margot Robbie (‘I, Tonya’)

A whopping 11 of our 16 Golden Globe experts derived from major media outlets are predicting that Saoirse Ronan will win Best Film Comedy/Musical Actress for her acclaimed performance as the title character in “Lady Bird.” The other five experts are backing the bid by Margot Robbie for her portrayal of disgraced figure skater Tonya Harding in the film “I, Tonya.” (See the Golden Globe predictions by expert.)

While Ronan has lost her previous two Golden Globe races, Robbie, who came to fame in “The Wolf of Wall Street” and “Suicide Squad,” has never contended here. This year she also featured in “Goodbye Christopher Robin,” which could give her a boost with Globe voters who have seen both performances and admire her versatility.
