“Watching the episode, it seemed like Sierra Thomas genuinely thought I had an idol, which I think is ridiculous,” says “Survivor: Game Changers” castoff Hali Ford after being eliminated in this week’s two-hour merge episode thanks in part to fear that she had a hidden immunity idol. This was Hali’s second time playing “Survivor” after finishing in 11th place on “Worlds apart” (Season 30). Nobody took Hali up on her offer to search her for the idol, but as she admits, “I still don’t think that would have changed the vote. I think it was locked in.”

Since Hali previosly played with Sierra in “Worlds Apart,” did the two ladies ever try to create a secret alliance? “It’s kind of easy to tell who you have ‘Survivor’ chemistry with and not,” she explains. “I had a lot of good chemistry with people in my original tribe in this game. Sierra and I have never worked well. We didn’t work well our first season. I tried with her. We were in a decent place up to the Malcolm Freberg vote, but after that I think it was just all kind of fake.”
Hali and Michaela Bradshaw were on the bottom of their tribe, but Hali couldn’t figure out why. “The best answer I have is that it’s just the result of poor strategy,” she surmises. “Why in the world, if Brad Culpepper and Sierra were running things over there, why not get numbers right then? I mean, Michaela and I were clear floaters and I was gunning all day to work with Brad and Sierra. It just seemed like no one wanted to make a move yet.”
Also in our “Survivor” podcast, Hali reveals how excited she was to get the call to join “Game Changers,” what she was whispering to Sandra Diaz-Twine in the double tribal council where Malcolm was ousted, and who she is personally rooting for to win the $1 million prize.
