Jeffrey Tambor (‘Transparent’) receives a distress call on an LGBT suicide hotline [Exclusive Emmy Episode]

Gold Derby can exclusively reveal that Jeffrey Tambor is entering the “Transparent” episode “Elizah” as his Emmy submission for Best Comedy Actor. This installment of the Amazon program streamed September 23 and was the 1st episode of the 3rd season. In this opening segment, Maura (Tambor) is working at an LGBT suicide hotline. After receiving a distress call from a young trans woman named Elizah (Alexandra Grey), there is immediate concern. A frantic trip follows through Los Angeles to find Elizah, but a visit to the hospital is in the making.

Tambor is already the two-time defending champion among the six contenders in his category. For the 2017 ceremony, he competes against prior winners Aziz Ansari (“Master of None”), Zach Galifianakis (“Baskets”), and William H. Macy (“Shameless”), past nominee Anthony Anderson (“Black-ish”), and rookie candidate Donald Glover (“Atlanta”).

Before his two Emmy victories, Tambor had four nominations for “The Larry Sanders Show” (1993, 1996, 1997, 1998) and two for “Arrested Development” (2004, 2005). He has also prevailed for this same role at the Golden Globes (2015) and SAG Awards (2016).
