Jordan Fisher (‘Dancing with the Stars’): This statistic may help him become youngest male ‘DWTS’ champ ever

Dancing with the Starsfrontrunner Jordan Fisher and close challenger Lindsey Stirling are dead even for the Mirror Ball Trophy after Monday night’s finals. Both performed two perfect dances each for a total of 80 out of 80, tying them for first place on the judges’ leaderboard. They will both perform again tonight in a “24-Hour Fusion Challenge” that will be the last scored routine of the season, but it looks like it’ll come down to viewer votes to determine who becomes the Mirror Ball champion in the grand finale. However, history is on Fisher’s side, and it’s precisely because of his scores.

Fisher’s two perfect dances on Monday night’s show brought him to a total of seven perfect scores for the season. That’s not only impressive, it’s also historic. No other male contestant has ever received so many perfect scores, and only two contestants of any gender have received more: Bindi Irwin (season 21) and Laurie Hernandez (season 23), who both had eight. What’s important to note is that every single contestant who has received six or more perfect scores has gone on to win the Mirror Ball Trophy. Irwin and Hernandez both prevailed. And three contestants who were perfect six times were champions as well: Jennifer Grey (season 11), Meryl Davis (season 18), and Rumer Willis (season 20).

If that history holds true and Fisher does indeed win the Mirror Ball Trophy it will also be historic because at age 23 he will become the youngest male winner in the show’s history, sliding in two years under Olympic speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno, who was 25 when he prevailed in season four back in 2007.

Do you agree that history is on Fisher’s side, or will Stirling’s standout performances in the finals give her the edge?
