Wednesday night on CBS, 28-year-old firefighter JP Hilsabeck faced one of the biggest blindsides in “Survivor” history when his core alliance of Lauren Rimmer, Devon Pinto, Ben Driebergen and Ashley Nolan turned on him. We recently spoke with the Los Angeles, CA resident about being betrayed by his allies, what his best and worst game moves were, and what type of winner he wants to see prevail. Scroll down to see JP’s responses following his elimination in “Survivor” Season 35, Episode 10.
After the initial shock wore off of the alliance of seven turning on JP, he admits that he was able to take a moment to appreciate their game move, revealing, “Yes, my hat goes off to them.” JP’s response is also in line with what Joe Mena told us after he was eliminated, suggesting that this season’s jury may not be filled with bitter jury members as it has been in years past.
As for what this former Hero thinks was the best strategic move of the season, he confesses, “They had an awesome blindside with me.” Conversely, JP says, “The worst moves were everyone telling each other about their idols.” While JP never found an idol, some of his alliance members did including Ryan Ulrich, who spilled the beans to both Devon and Ben and ended up losing their trust in the process.
Now that JP is a member of the “Survivor: Heroes v. Healers v. Hustlers” jury, what is he looking for in terms of what type of player he’ll cast his vote for in the end? “It’s all about game play and making moves,” he tells us, suggesting he won’t let his emotions get in the way when it comes down to casting his vote for the sole Survivor. The “Survivor” 35 finale airs December 20 on CBS.
