Kevin Spacey (‘House of Cards’) demands a formal declaration of war on terrorists [Exclusive Emmy Episode]

Gold Derby can exclusively reveal that Kevin Spacey is entering the “House of Cards” episode “Chapter 53” as his Emmy submission for Best Drama Actor. This installment of the Netflix program streamed May 30 and was the 1st episode of the 5th season. In this segment, President Frank Underwood (Spacey) bolts into a congressional session where they are discussing his possible crimes. He illegally takes over the podium and demands a formal declaration of war on terrorists. He secretly has the main target in custody until he’s most needed for a public relations move just weeks before the presidential election.

Rami Malek was not nominated for “Mr. Robot” after his victory last year, so this category is guaranteed a new champion. Spacey is facing off with previous winners Sterling K. Brown (“This Is Us”), Anthony Hopkins (“Westworld”), and Bob Odenkirk (“Better Call Saul”), returning nominees Matthew Rhys (“The Americans”) and Liev Schreiber (“Ray Donovan”), plus first-time contender Milo Ventimiglia (“This Is Us”).

Spacey has two more Emmy nominations this year for producing and starring on the political drama. That has given him five for each category, plus two more earlier on for producing “Bernard and Doris” (2008) and acting on “Recount” (2008). He has yet to win in his 12 overall nominations. However, he is a two-time Oscar champion for “The Usual Suspects” (1995) and “American Beauty” (1999).
