The country music quartet Little Big Town has had a busy 2017 with the February release of “The Breaker,” their eighth studio album. They also started a residency at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. Now they have announced that they’re about to embark on The Breaker Tour, which will play 23 dates starting on February 8, 2018, at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They’ll be joined on the nearly three-month tour by Kacey Musgraves and Midland, and on top of that they might be able to bring a few more CMA Awards with them too.
Little Big Town earned four nominations at the CMAs on the strength of “The Breaker,” which is up for Album of the Year and whose lead single, “Better Man,” is up for three prizes: Single of the Year, Song of the Year, and Music Video of the Year. The band is also up for Vocal Group of the Year. That’s actually five noms, but only four go to Little Big Town themselves since Song of the Year, the songwriting award, goes exclusively to the composer, Taylor Swift.
The best bet at the CMAs for Little Big Town is probably Vocal Group of the Year, which they have won for the last five years in a row. They’re the early frontrunners in our predictions with leading odds of 8/11 as of this writing, though they face a strong challenge from Lady Antebellum, who won this award three times (2009-2011) and also have an Album of the Year nomination (for “Heart Break”) this year to back it up.
