“It’s a comedy show, it’s not the Grammys,” says a deadpan Louis C.K. in the new promo for this weekend’s “Saturday Night Live” (watch above). The popular C.K. is set to host “SNL” for the fourth time on April 8, which is great news for the show’s Emmy chances as he earned Best Comedy Guest Actor bids for all three of those appearances (2013, 2014 and 2015).
Louis C.K. has won an impressive six Emmys over the course of his career thus far, all in the writing races. He has yet to prevail for an acting performance, but that could all change this year as “Saturday Night Live” is on fire creatively. Thanks to the presidential election, Gold Derby’s Emmy predictions favor Kate McKinnon to win Best Comedy Supporting Actress and Alec Baldwin to win Best Comedy Supporting Actor. They of course played presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, respectively.
The Chainsmokers will accompany C.K. as the musical guest. Rounding out the Season 42 host roster for the late-night sketch comedy series are Jimmy Fallon (April 15), Chris Pine (May 6), Melissa McCarthy (May 13) and Dwayne Johnson (May 20).
