‘mother!’ clip: Michelle Pfeiffer confronts Jennifer Lawrence – ‘Why don’t you want kids?’ [WATCH]

Darren Aronofsky‘s highly anticipated new thriller “mother!” opens in just a few weeks on Friday, September 15, so Paramount Pictures has released a new clip to tease the upcoming film. “Why don’t you want kids?” Michelle Pfeiffer intrusively asks Jennifer Lawrence. But intrusiveness seems to be a prevailing theme: Pfeiffer and Ed Harris play a couple of strangers who land on the doorstep of Lawrence and her husband played by Javier Bardem. Watch the new clip above, and if you haven’t seen the complete trailer, check it out here.

“I know what it’s like when you’re just starting out and you think you have all the time in the world,” Pfeiffer continues. “You know, you’re not going to be so young forever. Have kids — then you’ll be creating something together. This is all just setting.” Lawrence is clearly unnerved, and then Pfeiffer eerily intuits a truth about Lawrence. But what could it mean for the rest of the film?

“Mother!” is writer-director Aronofsky’s first film since his big-budget Biblical epic “Noah” in 2014. Before that he made “Black Swan” in 2010 and earned his first Oscar nomination for Best Director in addition to winning Natalie Portman the Oscar for Best Actress. He’s also well known for his unsettling films “Pi” (1998), “Requiem for a Dream” (2000), and “The Fountain” (2006), as well as the intimate character study “The Wrestler” (2008). With “mother!” he appears to be revisiting the kind of psychological horror that made “Black Swan” such a sleeper hit. Do you think Aronofsky, Lawrence, and Pfeiffer will return to the Oscar lineup?
