“Once Upon a Time” just signed up five actresses for season seven, which is set to take the fantasy show in a new direction. “Burn Notice” leading lady Gabrielle Anwar and “Devious Maids” scene-stealer Dania Ramirez will be regulars on this reboot while Mekia Cox (“Chicago Med”), Adelaide Kane (“Reign”) and Rose Reynolds (“Wasted”) are to have recurring roles.
We don’t know yet how any of their characters will fit into the story of Storybrooke. But we do know that the two new characters introduced in the season six finale will be back. Young Lucy (Alison Fernandez) travels to Seattle, Washington with her Once Upon a Time book in search of her father, Henry Mills (Andrew J. West). He is a grown-up version of Henry (Jared Gilmore), the boy whose search for his birth mother Emma (Jennifer Morrison) to the dismay of his adoptive mother Regina (Lana Parrilla) kicked off the series back in 2011.
While Morrison won’t be back for season seven save for a single episode, her new husband, Captain Hook (Colin O’Donoghue), is returning as are Parilla and Robert Carlyle, who plays Rumpelstiltskin. The official season seven synopsis says that their characters join with Lucy and Andrew “on an epic quest to once again bring hope to their world and ours. Along the way, fairy tale characters new and old search for true love, find adventure and once again take sides in the struggle of good against evil, as classic tales are once more twisted and reimagined.”
