In “Eye of the Storm,” the third season finale of the Starz hit drama “Outlander,” Claire (Caitriona Balfe) is forced to play a game of cat and mouse with old adversary Geillis Duncan (Lotte Verbeek), as she searches for Young Ian (Ian Fraser Murray). Meanwhile, Claire and Jamie (Sam Heughan) race through the jungles of Jamaica to prevent the unthinkable. The episode was written by Matthew B. Roberts and Toni Graphia and directed by Roberts.
In our ongoing video series, “Outlander” fan Rob Licuria is joined by Amanda Spears to dish the highs and lows of this chapter of the fantasy romance saga. This season is based on “Voyager,” Diana Gabaldon’s third novel in the series of books (watch above).
“Here’s the thing about this finale … I found it to be too rushed,” Licuria admits. “We could’ve had more of the Geillis story.” Spears agrees, adding “I would have liked a little more Geillis and a little less of them describing what they were doing as they were doing it.” “But we’re probably in the minority,” Licuria says. “We usually are,” Spears adds.
But Licuria found a lot to love in the season finale, especially the first half of the episode and towards the end. “When get hit by that big wave,” he explains, “those underwater scenes were breathtaking; and then I was back in it, and I thought wow, this is amazing,” Licuria declares. For Spears, she’s already looking ahead to the new season in 2018, after fans were treated to a sneak peak right after the third season finale aired. “I’m definitely looking forward to what happens in season four,” she proclaims.
