Based on what was revealed in the latest teaser trailer, the ghost of Captain Salazar, played by Oscar winner Javier Bardem (“No Country for Old Men”), wants Sparrow to pay for causing his untimely death. And Oscar champ Geoffrey Rush (“Shine”) is back again as Sparrow’s frenemy Barbossa, but it’s unclear how much of a role he’ll play in “Dead Men Tell No Tales.”
Brenton Thwaites appears as Henry Turner, a young man with daddy issues who’s trying to break a curse, while Kaya Scodelario plays Carina Smyth, an astronomer with a fun and feisty attitude. This time around, Sparrow is on the hunt for the iconic Trident of Poseidon, which gives its bearer the power to control the seas.
Whether or not “Dead Men Tell No Tales” is indeed the “final adventure,” as it’s being billed by Disney, will likely depend on how much money it makes at the box office. And based on the first four, the new film will likely yield quite a booty.
