‘Project Runway’ episode 9 predictions update: Brandon Kee maintains a big lead despite controversy all around him

Brandon Kee may be the best and most reliable designer on “Project Runway” season 16 according to the judges, and even our readers, and it probably hasn’t hurt him that he has stayed out of the fray for the show’s biggest controversies this season. Most recently, in “Client on the Go,” Michael Brambila stormed off the runway after Claire Buitendorp won a design challenge with a look that Michael thought she copied from Margarita Alvarez. This was perhaps a good week for Brandon to receive neither a high score nor a low score since it meant the mild-mannered designer didn’t have to be present on the runway for that conflict.

Keeping his head down and playing well with others seems to be doing alright for Brandon, who continues to hold a comfortable lead in our predictions for who will win the season. As of this writing he gets leading odds of 2/3, which translates to a 60% chance of winning the competition according to the predictions of our users who forecast “Project Runway” every week. His close friend and co-competitor Kentaro Kameyama holds steady in second place with 6/1 odds (15% chance of winning).

Margarita is still in third despite getting a low score in last week’s challenge: she gets 7/1 odds (13% chance of winning). Luckily for her, her victory in the previous challenge in “The Ultimate Faceoff” made her immune from elimination, but she’ll need to step up her game as she’s been in the bottom three for two of the last three challenges. In fourth place with 22/1 odds (4.4% chance of winning) is former frontrunner Kenya Freeman, who has lost so much of her momentum that it may be tough for her to get it back. But she rebounded again in “Client on the Go,” getting one of the high scores, so she may still have what it takes.
