‘Project Runway’ episode 5 winner predictions update: Can Kenya Freeman redeem herself after disastrous challenge?

Kenya Freeman was the frontrunner to win season 16 of “Project Runway” earlier this season according to our readers who have entered their weekly forecasts here in our predictions center. But then Brandon Kee won the design challenge in “A Leap of Innovation” and most of our readers made the switch. Things only got worse for Freeman after she shockingly landed among the bottom three designers last week in “We’re Sleeping Wear?” Can Freeman make a comeback?

As of this writing, Kee gets leading odds of 4/5, which translates to a 56% chance of winning. That’s up from last week when he had 21/20 odds (49% chance of winning). Out of 12 remaining contestants he is one of only four who has yet to land near the bottom of the judges’ scores, but there’s a first time for everything, and as host Heidi Klum explains in every episode, “One day you’re in, and the next you’re out.”

But our readers haven’t totally given up on Freeman. She holds onto second place in our predictions with 13/2 odds (14% chance of winning), though that is a drop from last week’s odds of 5/1 (17% chance of winning). So she has some catching up to do. And there are other designers who might also start challenging for the title. Ayana Ife ranks third with 15/2 odds (12% chance of winning), and Margarita Alvarez is fourth with 10/1 odds (9.5% chance of winning). Like Kee, neither of them has been at the bottom this season yet.

Perhaps surprisingly, last week’s sleepwear challenge winner Michael Brambila, who has also never been at the bottom, trails with 100/1 odds with no one currently predicting him to prevail. Are we underestimating him or anyone else in the competition? Check out the graph below to see how the momentum has shifted this season so far, and click on it to see more detailed odds.
